Buoyant Force is a series of performative self-portrait photographs that depict inspirational moments through graceful gestures performed by a marginalised, female body that society has deemed docile. The costumes and performances were created in collaboration with people from all over the world who contacted me to describe how seeing the Wait Watchers series of images inspired them to make a life change. The performances were conducted in an underwater tank as which is a space where bodies float, no matter their size.

In addition to honouring the stories of people who were inspired by the Wait Watchers images, the images serve as an activist voice to challenge society’s rules that govern the female body.
